CROWN, short for China Research and Development environment Over
Wide-area Network, is a grid testbed to facilitate scientific activities in different
disciplines. As we planned, the whole CROWN platform is consist of 3 parts. Firstly, many
resources (including computers, clusters and some storage devices) should be connected
via a nation-wide network infrastructure to build the CROWN architecture. Secondly, series
of grid middleware and auxiliary tools should be provided to meet the common requirements
of different scientific activities in all kinds of areas.Finally, a number of typical
applications should be put in use over the fabric and middleware to demonstrate the feasibility and robustness of CROWN.

DAS 数据访问服务系统(DAS)属于科学数据网格项目中“数据统一访问”模块。该系统应用在科学数据库中,旨在解决大规模的分布、异构、自治数据库群的统一访问问题。科学数据库建库单位的数据库管理员或服务提供者安装本软件,在所属专业子库上成功部署数据访问服务之后,即实现了在网格环境下该专业子库的数据发布,对外提供访问数据资源的网格服务。 DAS介于数据用户和物理数据库系统之间,对物理数据库进行封装后,对外提供数据访问的网格服务接口。通用Web检索前端(DataView)通过调用网格服务访问数据库资源。

BioWorkflow 由Cap3,Tigr和Blast2三个生物应用组成,可以对基因序列进行拼接比对。而基因序列拼接(DNA Sequence Assembly)则是基因组测序的关键技术之一,是指从一个包含某个基因序列的子序列的基因片段集合中,重构出该基因序列的过程。比对则是指将待研究序列与序列库进行比较,用于确定该序列的生物属性的过程。通过基因或蛋白质的拼接与比对,科学家可以得到一组序列之间的相似性关系,以便了解一个基因家族的基本特征。

DSSRetrieval 数字巡天图(DSS: Digital Sky Survey)由空间望远镜科研所(STScI)星表巡天部(Catalogs and Surveys Branch)制作提供。空间望远镜科研所为了获得设计导星星表所需要的图像数据,将施密特巡天底片数字化,覆盖了整个天空。通过网格服务的方式提供数字巡天图检索,初步实现一个虚拟天文望远镜的功能,通过输入区域参数,能够检索出相应区域的星空图。
Digital Sky Survey (DSS) is produced and provided by Catalogs and Surveys Branch of STScI (Space Telescope Science Institute). STScI digitized the Schmidt sky survey film which covers all the heaven, and the digital editions of these films have enormous practical efficiency on astronomical research. And the Grid Service of DSS supplies digital sky query, implements the function of a space telescope elementarily and virtually. DDS can find the corresponding region of the whole star graph by inputing the regional parameters.

分布在CERNET不同服务器上的大学数字博物馆目前通过页面链接来简单互连,存在信息冗余、存储资源浪费、信息“孤岛”的现象,对于大学数字博物馆的不同知识层次访问者,只能提供的信息渠道和信息服务。UDMGrid的目标是利用网格技术整合18家大学数字博物馆的资源,实现更高层次的信息服务。
University Digital Museums distributed in different servers are connected with each other simply by hyperlinks among pages, therefore the disadvantaged phenomena exists such as information redundancy, waste of storage resources, and information "isolated island", Further more, single information access and information service are provided with to different academic classes of visitors or browsers. In order to implement advanced information services, the UDMGrid Applications will integrate the whole resources of 18 university digital museums via grid computing technology.
